FAMIL is organized around three key focus areas: Immigration, Integration, and Wellness.

FAMIL is built around the philosophy of teaching others how to do something, rather than simply doing it for them. We aim to help our clients find lasting solutions to short and long-term issues within our three key program areas:

Immigration. We assist our clients in navigating the complex U.S. immigration system, from support with Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) applications to U.S. green card processing to employment authorization documents. Our immigration services team provides personalized case management, guidance, and advocacy to help our Afghan partners and their families secure legal status and build stable lives in the United States.

Integration. We support our Afghan partners as they adapt to life in America by teaching them how to navigate their new communities and overcome barriers to integration. Through direct mentorship, individual and group sessions, and veteran-to-veteran support, FAMIL empowers our clients to thrive and become contributing members of American society.

Wellness. We prioritize the emotional, mental, and physical well-being of our Afghan partners and their families. In addition to addressing the needs of those with serious combat-related injuries, FAMIL connects our clients to appropriate healthcare, counseling, and wellness programs to help build resilience, heal invisible scars, and promote long-term wellness.

Warrior Care Program

FAMIL’s Warrior Care Program is focused on assisting Afghan veterans who were wounded in action (WIA) while serving alongside US forces in Afghanistan – including individuals living with amputations, paralysis, and severe blast injuries. Our program seeks to provide customized solutions to address the immediate and unmet medical needs of this population, while connecting them with jobs, job-related training, and educational tools. Our vision is to help these warriors get back on their feet as they work to achieve self-sufficiency, restore their dignity, and pursue opportunities to rebuild what they sacrificed on the battlefield.
